Wilbur Douglas Bingham

Wilbur Douglas Bingham, 94, of Crittenden, KY. passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Bingham was born December 10, 1915 in Latonia, KY. to the late Reuben Samuel Bingham and Grace Belle Hoard Bingham. He was a retired school teacher for the Grant County School System and began his teaching career in a one room schoolhouse. He also served as a high school principal. He was a rural letter carrier and a farmer. He served his nation for many years in the US Army during World War II and in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Crittenden Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. In addition to his church, he was a member of the Grant County Historical Society, the Rural Letter Carriers Association, and he was a hospital volunteer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years: Lois Pauline Rhodes Bingham. He has 2 daughters: Patricia Kinman of Dry Ridge, KY. and Kathy Bingham of Chicago, IL. He has 2 sons: Douglas Bingham and his wife Jacque of Northville, MI. and Gregory Bingham of Oakton, VA. He is survived by 2 brothers: Hugh Bingham of North Carolina and Donald Bingham of Mt. Zion. He has 7 Grandchildren: Bill Bingham, Laura Bingham, Casey (Kristi)Kinman, Betsy (Ryan) True, Cody Kinman, Nathan Bingham and Rachel Bingham. He has 2 Great Grandchildren: Emmy & Tucker Kinman.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bingham was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Ruth Ecklar and Garnet Stephenson and by a brother: William Bingham.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Crittenden Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Page and Rev. Bobby Barnes officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 4-8 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
